Cross-border cooperation and exchange with internationally leading technology networks is a central strategy element of the Cluster Electric Mobility Southwest. In Europe, the French cluster network LUTB-RAAC in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is an important partner. LUTB-RAAC is one of the leading French innovation networks for the development of innovative mobility solutions. Its 185 staff consisting of members from industry and science is intensively working to meet the social, technological and economic challenges of future traffic systems in urban agglomerations.

The Cluster Electric Mobility Southwest intensifies its cooperation relations with relevant stakeholders in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region through the cross-border cooperation project “Franco-German Alliance for Innovative Mobility Technologies (AllFraTech)“. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research within the scope of the 2nd round of competition of the policy “Internationalisation of Leading-Edge Clusters, Future Projects and Comparable Networks.”

Concept Phase: Establishing a Long-Term Cooperation Strategy

In the scope of the concept phase of the project AllFraTech the Cluster Electric Mobility Southwest first establishes together with their partners from industry, science and research a comprehensive strategy for a long-term cooperation with the cluster network LUTB-RAAC. Action fields for cross-border research and development cooperation are identified based on the innovation strategy of the two networks and the technological competence of the participants as well as the current challenges to the mobility systems of the future. A major focus is the support to small and medium-sized businesses in this international collaboration. Pariticipants of both cluster networks are closely involved in the design of the cooperation strategy through workshops and working groups.

Implementation Phase: Joint Research and Development Projects on Innovative Mobility Technologies

The jointly established cooperation strategy is the basis in the subsequent implementation phase for cross-border research and development projects on current issues relating to future mobility technologies. For the time being, three research and development projects are planned within the scope of the policy “Internationalisation of Leading-Edge Clusters, Future Projects and Comparable Networks” of the Federal Ministry for Education and Research. The intention is to supplement these in the medium-term with other research and development projects within programmes of cross-border research and innovation funding.
