Field of innovation: Vehicle

Central element of electric mobility is the vehicle. In vehicle electrification, it is not only necessary to replace the power train; the overall system architecture will be affected. Furthermore, a wide range market launch requires reliable and cost-efficient diagnosis and repair capability of electric vehicles. Optimisation of thermal management and better insulation of the passenger compartment will allow for the use of smaller and lower priced batteries. Power steering and brake boosters will also require a new design in connection with electric power trains. Increasing relocation of the drive directly on the axle or even to the wheels furthermore enables the implementation of innovative and automated driving functions. All these issues are part of the discussion held by the cluster partners in the innovation field ‘Vehicle’ and form the basis of joint research activities. Insights gained in this multi-facetted field will be entered into the design and realisation of future vehicle generations.
